Create or Zone Out?
I know I have a long road to authentic creative recovery. I feel it's been hibernating for decades. Truly, decades.
Any creative act is difficult. Anything that pulls at your heart to create is full of mushy-gushy excitement and loathing. Blank spaces, blank canvases, even dressing our bodies... how do you know where to begin adding, editing, and exploring?
I believe it’s a voice that comes to you. It is best heard when you are calm, nourished, and content.
Then, how do you step outside your comfort zone but not look crazy?
Or.... look crazy.
Who cares, anyway.
Really.
Then, do you honor it, mute it, or amplify it?
Kick the ball to the universe - or, close the blinds?
These are the questions I vacillate between. Some days I have all the courage, then, I don’t.
When this happens I’ll intentionally zone out for an episode of The Kardashians and plan my next Skims purchase that will likely never happen. I watch the illusion of their faux life and wonder what brands of lipliner their glam team uses.
Guilty as charged.
With love,
Megan
